What is Innovator’s Edge, or IE?
Insurance Thought Leadership created Innovator's Edge to be a destination for discovering, following and engaging with key players in the insurtech community—startups, incumbent providers of insurance products and services, advisors, investors, regulators and more. Our goal is to provide greater connectivity among insurtech startups and established insurance industry providers looking for innovation and emerging technology. The foundation of IE is the startup profile, and business connectivity is enhanced with the introduction of the Innovator's Edge Exchange, or IEx, program.
What is a startup profile?
Innovator's Edge startup profiles give insurtech companies a powerful marketing tool to tell their story and attract customers. A brand profile allows companies to promote their products, people and ideas by sharing multimedia content that helps them to tell their story. When Innovator's Edge users find your company—such as through a search or after reading a social post by your startup—ensure that all the information they need to know about your brand is at their fingertips when they visit your profile.
What is the Innovator’s Edge Exchange, or IEx?
IEx is a dynamic new feature built within the existing Innovator's Edge platform that uses advanced technology to connect insurtechs with incumbent insurance providers, creating an efficient online marketplace for insurance innovation. IEx algorithms utilize data that a startup provides to match it with incumbent insurance providers that are looking for companies with those same characteristics, based on their own unique search criteria. Once you have been matched, a set of baseline due diligence data—called the Market Maturity Review—will be shared with the providers, freeing up time for you to focus on what matters most: building and advancing relationships.
How much does it cost?
For startups, membership is free to participate in Innovator's Edge.
How do you define an insurtech?
We define an insurtech as an early-stage company that takes an innovative, technology-based approach to solving problems for the insurance industry, to creating opportunities or to pioneering new business models.
What do you mean by 'provider'?
We use provider to mean established companies within the insurance industry, including agents and brokers, insurers, reinsurers, MGAs, TPAs and any other business that is looking to do business with insurtech startups and needs to research and connect with these innovators.
How do I get started?
From the IEx landing page, select the "Insurtech Sign Up" link. You then will be asked to sign up and create an account, provide payment information, and create your profile. From there, you can continue to complete a series of questionnaire modules designed to position your company for matchmaking and provide additional detail about your company and solution.
What information is requested?
Building your profile in IEx consists of providing information about your company in a series of questionnaire modules. The first two modules are focused on defining what you are seeking from insurance providers—customers, investors, specific areas of insurance or technology—and what you are offering providers. These criteria are used to match your companies with providers who are seeking what you are offering and vice versa.
The subsequent 5 modules are designed to provide more detail about your company in areas that are of critical importance to insurance providers: technology, regulatory compliance, insurance focus, operational capacity and funding. These questions were developed with input from insurance providers, regulators and insurtech startups.
